Title: Nut Gingerbread

1 1/2cBrown sugar
1/2cMolasses
1/4cMelted butter or butter substitute
1 Egg, well beaten
1/2tsSalt
1 1/2tbBrown sugar
1cSweet milk
2cFlour
1tsGinger
1tsBaking soda
3tbChopped nuts

Sift flour, measure, and sift with baking soda, salt, and ginger. Combine 1 1/2 cups brown sugar, molasses, butter, and eggs. Add dry ingredients alternately with milk to sugar and molasses mixture. Beat until well blended. Pour into well-oiled baking pan. Sprinkle with nuts and 1 1/2 tablespoons brown sugar. Bake in moderate oven (375ø F) about 30 minutes. Bertha V. Hull, Alton, OH.
